Metal Material Tensile Testing Parameters and Principles
Metal material tensile testing includes: Upper yield strength determination, lower yield strength determination, specified plastic elongation strength determination, specified total elongation strength determination, verification and determination of specified residual elongation strength, yield point elongation ratio determination, maximum force plastic elongation ratio determination, maximum force total elongation ratio determination, fracture total elongation ratio determination, elongation after fracture determination, and reduction of area determination.
The principle of tensile testing is to apply tensile force to the test specimen until it fractures, and measure one or more mechanical properties.
Unless otherwise specified, the test should be conducted at room temperature between 10°C and 35°C. For laboratories that do not meet the above temperature requirements, the laboratory should evaluate the impact of such environmental conditions on the test results and/or calibration data. When the test and calibration activities exceed the temperature range of 10°C to 35°C, the temperature should be recorded and reported. If there is a significant temperature gradient during the test and/or calibration process, the measurement uncertainty may increase and deviations may occur.
For tests that require strict temperature control, the test temperature should be 23°C ± 5°C.
